Bidvest Tank Terminals, which is a Proudly Bidvest company, was established in 1953 and is the foremost independent bulk liquid storage operator for chemicals, liquefied gases, edible oils, fuel, base oils and lube oil additives in South Africa.
With over 825 000 cubic metres of storage capacity, it has terminals in Durban and Richards Bay and inland at Isando near Johannesburg, handling 3.5 billion litres of product each year.
In 2018 construction began on a project that will revolutionise the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to southern Africa.
The project involves the construction by Bidvest Tank Terminals of a 22 600 tonne LPG storage facility, for Petredec, in Richards Bay: the Mounded LPG Facility.
The Mounded LPG Facility will be used to store LPG which has been imported into southern Africa.
The facility will remove the largest obstacle to the unrestricted supply of LPG to the region, and will usher in a new era of cost-effective, reliable, safe energy for southern Africa.
